In the episode Chef's Table: Francis Mallman. He describes to us what his childhood was like growing up. Mallman also tells his story on how he became a successful chef.
This episode was definitely a narrative mode because he gives good detail and observation to express his story. The places he cooks his food or how he cooks his food. The different views of the video definitely caught my attention and was interested to learn more. Mallman story connects to our hiraeth assignment because he tells us about his childhood and what motivated him to become a chef. Mallman arrived to Patagonia at the age of seven where his house was ruled by fire with brother and family. When he was eight he was invited to dinner with his parents outside under a tree. He describes it to be longing about a home that he can't return to. Mallman went to France to get a job with a 3 star chef at a restaurant. After making a dish, the customer was no pleased and told him it was really bad, which made him take a different approach. He basically had a growth mindset to become a better chef by mastering the way that he cooks. At the age of 19 he started his first restaurant. Mallman says "building a fire is like making love." Mallman uses cooking to express himself. Mallman states "that you to respect what you're cooking, a man with ideas accomplishes his dreams." He never cooks alone he uses maestranza which means the people around you helping. Everything happens for a reason he never gave up on his cooking after they told him that his cooking wasn't good which motivated him to be different.

I agree he uses food to tell a story. His life is really one of a kind being in a different location every couple of days.

I like how you included that he went to France to work with 3 star chefs and started his own restaurant at 19, it provides background information about him.
