Carolyn Chute wrote an article titled How Can You Create Fiction When Reality Comes to Call? Where she describes the many distractions she faces when trying to write. Writing is easy when you have the time and concentration to yourself but when your personal life gets involved you never have time or the same mindset cause of the things that are happening around you.
When writing a paper or doing other school work, it’s very easy to get distracted. A message from your friends asking what the plans for tonight are or seeing what’s happening on social media. Maybe your favorite movie or TV show is on. Even a simple noise can mess up your concentration. Writing helps alot in many different ways. By reading the writer can inform and persuade you into believing or making something seem interesting. I’m not much of a writer but recently I found it very interesting knowing that I can write what’s on my mind and express how I feel without taking action. Writing to me now is like therapy it’s relaxing and it clears my mind. Writing was never my strong point but I know I can become a better writer if I put my mind into it. I don't know why, but it takes a long time for me to get my thoughts processed. At times I don't even know where to start my mind is all over the place. I'm going to be honest I'm a bad writer I usually write only when I have to so therefor my writing experience is not where it should be. Becoming a better writer will be hard but I am motivated to enhance my skills in writing. There is no such thing as a perfect writer just like there is no such thing as a perfect person. We all make mistakes but can learn from those mistakes to help become a better writer. People have their own way of doing things like making yourself as comfortable as possible before you start writing. Drake Baer wrote an article captioned 6 Ways to Be a Hemingway-Level Productive Badass. Baer gives us insight on the things that he does that makes him one of the best writers around. He states "Long before Sedentary Death System was coined (translation: sitting too much will kill you), Hemingway, ever pursuing his writerly juice, would stand as he worked—in a pair of his oversized loafers on the worn skin of a lesser kudu." Baer writing strong point was when when he would get up early in the morning where there was no one that could disturbed him "greeting the dawn with craftsman devotion." Now I am gonna list six steps to help avoid distraction and become a better writer. 1) Always got to have snacks around you while writing! cant work on an empty stomach you wont be able to think right. 2) Turn your phone off! so that way your friends don't interrupt you while your working a simple text message is all it takes. 3) Make sure your TV is turned off! you wont be able to process your thoughts and can get sidetracked easily trying to multitask from school work and watching TV. 4) Organizing my thoughts before I just go ahead and an get into it with my ideas all over the place. 5) Be confident in myself and my writing. 6) Proof read my work so I can see the changes that I can make.

Joan Didion writes a fascinating piece on Why I Write. Didion explains the different reasons on why she writes, with the title taken from George Orwell. She stated "Which I was a writer. By which I mean not a “good” writer or a “bad” writer but simply a writer, a person whose most absorbed and passionate hours are spent arranging words on pieces of paper." letting readers know that it takes time and dedication to write. There are many reasons why I write. One reason is because I have to write essays and take notes for class or else I would forget and not know what's going on. Another reason I write is to express how I feel sometimes after a long day at work or if I got a lot on my mind. I mostly express my writing through social media whatever comes to mind I let my followers know how I feel or what I'm thinking. Never was a big fan of writing it’s my least favorite thing to do but I learned to like it. I find writing relaxing it's like therapy for me also clears my mind takes a lot of stress off. There is no such thing as a perfect writer. Many people write and express themselves differently all around the world. I’m thankful for writing because I can write how I feel instead of showing how I feel could end up getting in trouble when it should not have to be like that.
